Slow metamorphosis: one mandala melting into the next

The heart of this generator is a small design director. Every so often it rolls a complete new target design: how many axes of symmetry, how deep the petals cut, where the rings and gem rosettes sit, which palette the colours live in, how fast each layer turns. Then it glides the live picture toward that target over ten seconds or more.
