Terms of Service
Last updated: June 8, 2026
Agreement to these terms
By accessing or using Old Light Studio at OldLight.org ("the Service", "we", "us", or "our"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
What the Service does
Old Light Studio is a free, browser-based tool that turns an audio file into a slow, seamless background video that never repeats. The visuals are produced by a real-time engine, not by AI, and the entire render runs locally in your browser. The free tier produces a watermarked 1080p MP4. Features, limits, and any paid tiers may change over time.
Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use it only with the involvement of a parent or guardian.
Your audio and your videos
You are solely responsible for the audio you use with the Service. You represent that you own it or otherwise have all rights and permissions necessary to use it and to create and publish a video from it. Because all processing happens in your browser, we never receive your audio or your rendered videos.
You keep ownership of your audio and of the videos you create. We claim no ownership over them and grant no rights in any third-party music; clearing those rights is up to you.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or to infringe anyone's intellectual property or other rights;
- Use audio you do not have the rights to use;
- Attempt to remove, obscure, or circumvent the watermark or free-tier limits;
- Reverse engineer, copy, or redistribute the Service's software or visual engine;
- Abuse, overload, probe, or attempt to disrupt the website or the contact form;
- Use the Service to create content that is illegal, harmful, harassing, or infringing.
Free tier and watermark
The free tier renders watermarked 1080p video up to a set length (currently 10 minutes) and may be subject to other limits. These limits exist to keep the free tier sustainable and may change. We may introduce paid tiers with different limits, resolutions, or output (for example, clean, higher-resolution exports).
Intellectual property
The Service, including its website, software, visual engine, design, and the "Old Light" and "Old Light Studio" names and marks, is owned by us and protected by applicable laws. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, revocable license to use the Service for its intended purpose. Everything not expressly granted is reserved.
Third-party services and browser requirements
The Service runs in your web browser and depends on modern browser features (such as WebGL2 and WebCodecs); it works best in current versions of Chrome or Edge and may not function in every browser. The website is hosted on Cloudflare, and the contact form is delivered via Resend. We are not responsible for third-party services or for browsers that do not support the required features.
Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability, non-infringement, uninterrupted availability, or that the output will meet your expectations. You use the Service at your own risk.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, revenue, or profits, arising from your use of (or inability to use) the Service. Because the Service is free, our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us, if any.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claims or expenses arising out of your use of the Service, the audio you use, the videos you create, or your violation of these Terms or any law or third-party right.
Changes to the Service and these terms
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time. As the tool gains new features and capabilities, we may also update these Terms; when we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
Privacy
Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.
Governing law and severability
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which we operate, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full effect.
